Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Electrical Engineering

PRIMARY DETAIL - Salary package:  $56,275 per annum (Level A.6 – part time, 17.5 hours) – (FTE = $112,550) plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading - Appointment type:  Part-time, 0.5 FTE (17.5 hours), fixed-term role until June 2027 - Macquarie University Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will contribute to a government-funded research project focused on the design and development of advanced power electronic systems. The primary role will involve the design, simulation, and validation of power electronics, including converter design, electromagnetic modelling, and system-level performance analysis. The successful candidate will lead simulation activities using tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, or equivalent, and support laboratory-based testing to validate system performance under operating conditions. The role includes the development and optimisation of power electronic components and hardware prototypes. The Fellow will work closely with mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering teams to support system integration, ensuring alignment between modelling, experimental validation, and overall system performance. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop power electronic systems, including converter topologies and control strategies. Perform simulation and modelling using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, COMSOL, ANSYS, or equivalent. Conduct electromagnetic and system-level performance analysis under varying operating conditions. Support laboratory testing and experimental validation of power electronic prototypes. Integrate simulation results with experimental data to validate and refine system performance. Collaborate with mechanical and multidisciplinary teams to support system integration and prototype development. Develop and optimise hardware components and contribute to system-level design improvements. Document technical work and contribute to reports, publications, and project deliverables. Contribute to the preparation of publications, presentations, and final project reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience preparing technical reports and publications.
